Description

These ultra-crispy onion rings are filled with gooey, stretchy mozzarella cheese and served hot with pizza sauce for dipping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large white or yellow onions
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into sticks
  • ½ cup pizza sauce or marinara
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1½ cups seasoned breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (or air fryer spray)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions into thick rings and separate.
  2. Sandwich mozzarella sticks between two onion rings; freeze 30 minutes.
  3. Set up breading stations: flour → eggs + milk → breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan and seasonings.
  4. Bread stuffed rings thoroughly.
  5. Fry at 350°F (175°C) for 2–3 minutes per side until golden (or air fry at 400°F / 205°C for 8–10 min).
  6. Serve hot with pizza sauce for dipping.
