Description

Delicious meat cakes with a molten cheese center.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 4 cubes (about 1 oz / 28 g each) cheddar cheese (or American cheese for extra melt)
  • 1½ cups (170 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Season ground beef and divide into 8 equal patties.
  2. Place a cheese cube in the center of 4 patties, top with remaining patties, and seal edges tightly into thick rounds.
  3. Press shredded cheddar all around the outside of each meat “cake.”
  4. Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 18–22 minutes until browned and molten inside.
  5. Rest 2 minutes, cut open, and let the cheese lava flow.
