Description

A delicious homemade syrup made from ripe bananas and pure maple syrup, perfect for pancakes or waffles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed, about 2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup (can sub honey, agave, sugar or coconut sugar)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the mashed banana, maple syrup, water, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 5–7 minutes until thickened slightly.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Let cool slightly, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth for a smooth syrup.
  5. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.
